Australia Duty & Tax Information:
All good imported into Australia are subject to assessment for duty, Goods and Services Tax (GST is payable on most goods at a rate of 10%) and other taxes and charges even if you imported those goods for your own use. Generally, there is no requirement to pay duty and Goods and Services Tax (GST) on imported goods valued at or below $1000 AUD, except for alcohol and/or tobacco products. Imported goods with a value at or below $1000 AUD that arrive by air or sea cargo will require a self-assessed clearance (SAC) declaration to be lodged with Customs and Border Protection. All goods (except for tobacco and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if the value of the goods is $1000 AUD or less.
