Your Next Wakesurfer: A Beater Board

Let’s face it… $%&! happens to your wakesurf board!

The rider falls and the board slams into the swimdeck.
The board gets stepped on and snaps a fin.
People become careless with it after a few cold beverages.
Someone drops it in the driveway while unloading the boat.

These incidents make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and leave your wallet cringing in pain.

Your favorite wakesurf board is now decorated with epoxy repairs covering up those dings and scratches.

This crisis can be avoided. The simple fix: pick up a beater board (see definition below) for your boat.

Beater Board [bee-ter bohrd]: A board that is nearly indestructible and designed for recreational fun

An emerging trend within wake, we are seeing more brands add a beater board to their wakesurf lineup.

Ronix has the Marsh “Mellow” Thrasher», their recreation creation that delivers a core similar to their higher-end wakesurfers within a soft top exterior. This speedy, lightweight, and durable board is a fun ride for everyone onboard. The Marsh "Mellow" Thrasher is available in a 4'8" and 5'2" size and comes with a tri-fin setup that includes two 2.3" fins and a 2.9" hook fin.

The Liquid Force Slaysh» is a new addition to their wakesurf lineup for 2016. The board is an all-purpose shred stick that features a foam top and PE base. Built to endure a beating and keep ripping, this is a great addition to your boat if you don't want everyone riding your favorite $800 wakesurf board. The Slaysh comes with a tri-fin setup so it can be rode as a twin, thruster, or single fin setup. The slaysh is available in a 4'6" and 4'10" size.

So what is all the hype about? Why does your boat need a beater board?

Durable Construction

These soft top boards offer unmatched durability that are built to withstand the test of time. The soft exterior won’t get the dings or scratches that traditional wakesurf boards are highly susceptible to. The beater boards also are very kind to your boat as they won’t cause dings and scratches to your gel coat in the case of an accidental collision.

All Ability Levels Have Fun Riding It

These boards will be enjoyable for riders of any skill level. The high buoyancy and durable exterior make them a great board to teach beginners. Similarly shaped to high-end performance boards, more advanced riders will be able to rip around and enjoy the playfulness of a beater board.

You don't need to break the bank to buy a beater board. These soft top boards are much more affordable than your typical wakesurf board. Consider it a cheap investment to protect your high-performance, carbon fiber wakesurfer from being rode by every single person you take out on the boat.
