How do I choose a wakeboard?

Choosing a wakeboard starts with an honest evaluation of your wakeboarding skills. For beginners, we recommend starting out with a board that has forgiving features to help you progress. Boards designed for beginners will provide a stable and easy to ride feeling. An asymmetrical wakeboard if you are new to wakeboarding or board sports is encouraged but not needed. Intermediate riders who have toeside/heelside edging down and are jumping the wake, will want a board that will help progress but won't be quickly outgrown. Look for a versatile shape that provides plenty of pop off the wake and a hull that helps to break the water and create soft landings. Stomping spins and inverts? Pro model boards are typically built for advanced riders and are designed to create a fast, aggressive ride on the water. These boards offer the latest in wakeboarding technology, designed for those who need a board to keep up with their skills.

What size wakeboard do I need?

If multiple riders will be using the same board it is best to go with a board in the size range of the largest rider. Smaller riders will be able to adapt to riding a larger wakeboard no problem, but the bigger riders in your group will have a much more difficult time trying to ride on a wakeboard that is too small for their size. Why should I size up or size down my wakeboard?

Sizing Down: Only advanced riders should consider sizing down when buying a new board. A smaller wakeboard will have less swing weight and will spin faster when executing advanced tricks, have a more aggressive feel and quicker edge-to edge transitions. A rider will have more control over a smaller board due to less surface area but there is the risk of harder landings and an increased chance of burying the nose of the board.
Sizing Up: A bigger board will be slower through the water but will be a more stable, smoother ride - great for novice riders. The larger surface area will make landings softer and help prevent catching your edge. More forgiveness, but more sluggish as far as manueverability is concerned.

What is a wakeboard rocker?

The rocker is the difference in shape between the board's belly and it's tips, as seen on the side profile. Common types:
Continuous rocker - a long continuous curve from tip to tail that provides a smooth release off the wake, more glide speed, and softer landings but less ""pop"" off the wake.
3-stage rocker - increased ""pop"" and explosiveness, easier to go big and really send it. However, you'll experience slower glide speed and less consistent pop.
Camber rocker - this shape helps riders leave the wake in a more ergonomically correct body position with a more even weight distribution. It gives you a different kick off the wake and smoother landings on re-entry.

What is the best speed for wakeboarding?

18 - 20 mph is recommended when starting out. This will help riders enjoy their ride and create optimal conditions for the rider's wake. As you advance your skills you can bump up your speed and wave size.
