Last week we brought you a list of our top edits to keep you busy through the quarantine. Well, since there’s still no end in sight, we thought we might as well give you a list of our top 7 full-length movies to help everyone pass the time.
Dog Dayz
Starting off the list is Dog Dayz, a film produced by Trever Maur showcasing the raw talent of the California wakeboard scene. With probably the most diverse mix of boat, cable, winch, and even some wakeskating, there is sure to be something in here for everyone. A few of the standout parts to me include Mike Schwenne with his signature tuck knees, Randall “The Vandall” Harris going massive as always, and Josh Twelker’s two-song part to round out the film. Overall this movie is sure to get you stoked to be out on the water with an epic soundtrack and insanely stylish riding to match.
Formats
Formats features pro riders Guenther Oka, Dylan Miller, Felix Georgii, Nick Dorsey, and Raph Derome. With a solid mix of boat and winch, the diverse group of riders can showcase their skills regardless of discipline. The thing I appreciate most about the film is the cinematography. The majority of the sections are filmed with Ultra HD cameras, but the B-roll is filmed using unique obsolete cameras, which vary depending on the riders' part. This is a very creative concept, and it allows the riders to have a very unique aesthetic for each of their parts.

Prime
Prime, which dropped in 2014, was well ahead of its time. Not only in regards to riding but also when it came to the cinematography. This also was the first time that the Lake Ronix bi-level was featured heavily in a movie or edit, which to me was the highlight of the film.
Al Sur
Al Sur is a bit of the dark horse in this list. Shot with no real budget or sponsors, this was Trever Maur’s first jump into the full-length wake film world. The entire film took place in Mexico, which is logistically very difficult but adds to the overall story by creating a travel film sort of feel. Some of my favorite parts are the tow-in surf section, Randall’s ender with a mental wrapped toe back 7, and the locals’ section because it showcases some amazing riding from a part of the world where there isn’t much wake coverage.

Drop the Gun
Drop the Gun is a full length, 100% winch and cable movie by the boys at Shredtown. This movie was one of the first winch-centric (is that even a word?) movies ever to come out, and the amount of creativity makes this film stand apart. My only complaint is that the movie is too short, the action is so nonstop that 20 minutes seems like 2.
Transgression
Transgression is a bit of an outlier on this list, as it's not the high tempo action sports movie you’d expect. This film is more of a slow-paced, artistic approach to the sport which was produced by the now-defunct Gator Boards company. With that said, this is my personal favorite because of how unique it is, and how it showcases some of the lesser-known names in the sport - it also marked the return of Randall Harris. Highlights for me include Matt Manzari's bonkers wakeskate section, Keith Lidberg hitting a rail until it collapses, and of course Randall’s opening and closing section. The only downside to this movie is that it will be a difficult one to find, so check eBay, or hit up your old riding buddies and see if they have a copy of this film floating around anywhere.
12 Honkeys
12 Honkeys is a certified cult classic in the sport of wakeboarding and for good reason. With a roster of riders like Scott Byerly, Shaun Murray, Darin Shapiro, Gregg Necrason, Parks Bonifay, and a very young Shawn Watson and Shane Bonifay this film takes a very quirky and satirical approach but is filled with some insane riding. Highlights include Byerly’s part filled with creative rail riding that was well beyond its time. As well as Parks section with some mental re-entry’s and double-ups, with every single trick being sent well into the flats, only to be capped off with a nearly landed toeside 1080. Overall this film is an oldie but a goodie, and you can watch it for free for a limited time!
