What's Included

Owner's Manual
(1) Jabsco Ballast Puppy Pump
(1) Pre-Wired Ballast Rocker Switch
Without a doubt the Jabsco Ballast Puppy is the most popular wakeboard ballast pump in history. And its success is for good reason; the reversible design simplifies installation and reduces the number of components required, and its track record proves it's a reliable performer that is fast and efficient.

With more manufacturers, including Centurion, Mastercraft, Moomba, Nautique and Supra, installing the Jabsco Ballast Puppy than any other ballast pump available, it's obvious this is a great choice for your fully automated ballast system.

If for any reason you need to replace a Jabsco ballast pump that came pre-installed in your boat, the pump we sell is the latest version, and is a direct replacement for all previous models.

Green Nitrile Impeller IncludedPremium Green Nitrile Impeller
As the main moving part, the impeller really determines the performance of a reversible wakeboard ballast pump like the Jabsco Ballast Puppy.

That's why every Jabsco Ballast Puppy wakeboard ballast pump that we sell comes pre-loaded with the latest and best impeller Jabsco currently offers. The green Nitrile Premium impeller sells separately for as much as $50, and offers increased speeds, improved durability, and more reliable operation, and it's included for free!

Connect hose directly to the Jabsco Ballast PuppyVersatile, High Volume Connection Options
The unique design of the pump head features integrated hose barbs for use with 1" hose, just slide the hose over the bronze inlet and outlet ports and secure with hose clamps.

Additionally, 1/2" NPT female connections are provided for use with smaller hose (use with optional 1/2" thread to 3/4" hose barb adapter to convert to the more common 3/4" hose size), giving you a multitude of connection options.

For the fastest system we recommend using 1" hose.

Features
  • Run-Dry Protection: The integrated Run-Dry Protection circuit monitors the current draw of the pump and automatically shuts it off if conditions indicate water is no longer flowing through the pump. This innovative feature prevents damage to the impeller.

  • The ignition protected design makes this pump suitable for installation in the bilge compartment of the boat without risk of fire or explosion due to fuel vapors. This feature alone is crucial for safe operation, and is one important distinguishing factor between the Ballast Puppy and the Simer pump to which it is often compared.

This is the same pump used to fill and drain OEM ballast sytems in Mastercraft Wakeboard Boats, 2009 Supra Wakeboard Boats, 2009 Moomba Wakeboard Boats, Correct Craft Wakeboard boats and Centurion Wakeboard Boats.

  1. Great Pump

This is a great product and is standard on many boat manufactures stock ballast systems. If you have version that is a few years old think about getting new impellers as they wear over time. This pump has been a product that I have not worried about if it will work or not, they work well.

  2. Love the Jabsco Ballast Pumps

I added another ballast system for surfing in my Malibu VLX and since I wanted it to be fast and easy I went with the Ballast Puppy Pumps. They fill my 750lb. fat sacs in about 6 minutes which is good because my factory system takes about the same time. The nice thing is that they are bullet proof. I would recommend these pumps to anyone that wants an easy to install ballast system.

  3. Looks great, works, lasts fair

For such a high quality looking product I was shocked how quickly this product quit working in my boat.

The failure occurred due to water getting into the motor. The actual culprit was a seal failure in the pump shaft seal which due to the installation placement by MasterCraft allowed the water to flow directly into the motor. Parts to rebuild this pump are very expensive. Pump impellers seem to be upgraded on a yearly basis and come in a variety of colors so be careful that you are getting the "flavor of the year" as upgrading to the latest version will cost you about $35. Other parts such as the pump shaft seals which failed in my pump are hard to find and again are really expensive (about $40 if you can find one). If you plan to run these pumps carry spare impellers, routinely inspect the pump seals for leaks and be prepared for a pump failure when you least expect it.

Performance on this pump is respectable. My only real complaint is in durability and cost of maintenance items. For a pump costing this much I'd expect it to last longer. My boat has 180 hours on it and my pumps are only use occasionally yet I've had to upgrade the impellers twice and already had to replace one of my pumps due to the seal failure hence my one star rating for value.

Wake Makers is the true bright spot of this story. They have excellent customer service, know the products they sell and sell them at a very fair price. They actually saved my vacation by overnighting a new pump to a remote location in Michigan so we could get on with our summer vacation.
