If you use your Eight.3 Wakesurf Shaper regularly, you will likely need to replace the velcro on the surf device and/or on your boat at some point. If used routinely, this will likely be part of the annual maintenance and upkeep for your boat. Fortunately, replacing the velcro strips is quick, simple, and easy. This blog post will provide a tutorial explaining how to properly replace the Wakesurf Shaper velcro strips. Not to waste any time, let's get started!

Required Materials

Depending on which side of the velcro you are replacing, you will need to purchase either the replacement boat velcro strips and/or the replacement unit velcro strips that go on the actual Wakesurf Shaper. Along with the set of new velcro strips, you will also need a razor blade, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and a towel for this project.

Step 1: Peel Off Old Vecro

Since the velcro is already starting to come off, this step should not be difficult. Fully rip off the old vecro and throw it away. There will be still be adhesive left on the actual Eight.3 Wakesurf shaper. We will remove the adhesive next.

Step 2: Remove Adhesive and Clean Surface

This is the most difficult step. Use a razor blade (be careful!!!) to chip off the leftover adhesive. For some people the adhesive will come off easily while other people have a more difficult time. Once you have removed all the adhesive, use the rubbing alcohol and a towel to fully clean the surface. Make sure it is dry before the next step. For the best results you will want the surface on the Wakesurf Shaper to be clear of all adhesive and totally clean (see below).

Step 3: Apply New Velcro Strips

The final step is to attach the new velcro strips. Start at one end of the Wakesurf Shaper and slowly apply the velcro strips. Be careful that there are no bubbles. Allow 24-48 hours for the adhesive to fully apply and get best results. WARNING: do not apply the velcro strips and go out on the water that same day.

Applying New Velcro Strips on Boat

This tutorial was intended for replacing the velcro strips on the actual Eight.3 Wakesurf Shaper, NOT the velcro strips that are attached to the boat. Lucky for you, the process is identical. Follow steps 1-3 and allow 24-48 hours for the adhesive to set. For best results, make sure the boat's surface is completely dry and cleaned off before starting.
