Phase 5 has built a reputation on combining innovation and quality into their unique line of industry leading surfboards. The 2022 model year is no different, with a number of upgrades throughout the line. Let's take a first look at what has changed for '22:
2022 brings minor updates to an already great product line, so let's dig into the changes:
To start with there's a new limited edition release of Parker Payne's Matrix surfer that is an extremely limited release, so if you're interested in grabbing this shape, don't snooze on it.
Next up is an update to the popular MVP model, which now features a "moon" tail profile. This update offers more push, making it a great upgrade over the previous version, especially for heavier riders.
Finally, both the 2022 Phase 5 Ahi and 2022 Phase 5 Swell feature a new thinner profile that allows the board to sit lower in the water for a more responsive ride.
Phase 5 has been innovating with their foil boards for the last couple of years, offering new shapes along with their legendary build quality. For 2022 the changes are limited to the higher end Chip foil board, which now feature a more user friendly design with little flatter learning curve. Compared to the previous pizza box sized version, the 2022 Phase 5 Chip foil board is much more traditional in design, something that we're still 50/50 on.
Across the board, Phase 5 is now offering a 100CM front wing version of their Nova Foil Set, making the move to add a high lift, low aspect ratio wing to their line.
Finally, Phase 5 has also updated some of their soft-goods this year, with updates to vests, board bags and other accessories.
So there's a quick review of the 2022 Phase 5 product offering. With supply chain limitations throughout the industry last year, it would be understandable if Phase 5 hadn't made any changes this year, but as per the usual, they are continuing to innovate and offer updates.
