New and Improved!
Our exclusive MasterCraft tank buster ballast upgrade solution has been completely re-engineered to eliminate passive draining while the boat is listed for surfing.
Our TankBuster upgrade package is the easiest and quickest way to transform the wake of your Mastercraft wakeboard boat. If you're wakesurfing, this upgrade is a must in order to get the best possible wake, and it's all completely automated and controlled from the dash, in addition to your factory system.
Add up to an additional 1,100lbs. of ballast to your wakeboard boat's factory ballast system with our exclusive TankBuster Factory Ballast System upgrade. Interested in adding more ballast to your boat for surfing, but don't want to mess with throwing pumps over the side of the boat? The WakeMAKERS Mastercraft Tankbuster Wakesurf Ballast System is designed to integrate with your factory ballast system, be controlled using the switches on your dash, and not required any additional effort to fill and drain. How It Works
The Mastercraft TankBuster Ballast System Upgrade takes the place of the existing factory hard tank installed in each rear locker of certain Mastercraft (see applications below) wakeboard boats. Once installed, the new ballast bag is controlled completely from the driver's seat, and uses the factory pumps and plumbing. Everything functions exactly the same as it did from the factory, but you've greatly expanded the factory of the system. Additionally, when the bags are empty, the entire rear locker is available, dramatically increasing the amount of storage space for gear and equipment. This kit includes everything needed for the installation, including a new ballast bag and the necessary quick connect fittings.
Once installed, the ports on the new ballast bag are connected to the fill/drain and vent hoses from the factory ballast system, making the Mastercraft TankBuster a direct upgrade for the factory ballast system. For convenience, Quick Connect fittings are used allowing you to easily remove the bag for cleaning, storage or winterization. Triple the capacity, double the storage space, all controlled using the factory dash switches makes the TankBuster the perfect ballast upgrade.Installation
The installation process is incredibly simple, completely reversible, and only has to be done one time to use the TankBuster system. Removing the factory tank and installing the new TankBuster bag typically takes a couple of hours to do both sides of the boat, so plan on leaving yourself and afternoon for the project.
Step 1: Locate and identify fill/drain connection at the bottom of the factory tank and the vent hose at the top of the factory ballast tank. The fill/drain hose will come from down in the bilge of the boat, while the vent hose will go directly from the ballast tank to a fitting in the side of the boat.
Step 2: Remove hose clamps securing the factory fill/drain and vent hoses to the hard tank located in the rear compartment.
Step 4: Remove factory "L" brackets used to secure ballast tanks to the floor of the boat.
Step 5: Remove the factory hard tank from the boat and retain in a convenient storage location.
Step 6: Insert pre-assembled vent hose extension into the factory vent hose and secure with the provided hose clamp.
Step 7: Insert the supplied quick connect fitting into the end of the factory fill/drain hose and secure with the supplied hose clamp.
Step 8: Secure the Quick Release connectors on the ends of the fill /drain hose and vent hose extension to their appropriate connections on the new ballast bag.
Step 9: Test system for correct, leak-free, operation and enjoy the dram
Able to Surf with our 2002 Mastercraft XStar now!
These ballasts improved our wake and produced a nice curl wave for surfing. I installed (2) 600 lbs - Straight Line 40" x 20" x 20" (one on each side) on my 2002 XStar for more surf weight.
It was worth the time and money to remove factory hard tanks and install the bags. Installation was easy and came with all necessary components. The bags fit the rear lockers perfectly and I am now able to use the entire space for surf weight. I also really like the way the hoses attach to the bags. Very simple and quick. Can easily remove the bags completely if extra space is needed.
One of the best upgrades you can do for an older Mastercraft, next will be the bow ballast bag. Great product!
Ordered 2 1100s for my 02 X30 and the fit perfectly in the rear lockers. Wake is huge for both wake boarding and surfing. Came with everything you need to do a quick swap and took just a few minutes per side.
This was as simple and straightforward as it gets. WM says that it's helpful to heat the hose for fitting or removing from fittings and I would second that. I messed around for 10 minutes or so with removing one fitting. Once I heated the hose some it came off much easier.
A great addition.
Much better than factory tank plus bags. A very worthwhile addition. Great support and helpful sales people! 2002 Mastercraft X-30 400 h.p.
Work Great and Easy to Install
Instructions were easy to follow and it was simple to install. The staff were also extremely helpful when picking out what I needed and help talk me through the options.
Great Product and Super Easy
I installed this on my 2002 XStar for more surf weight. Installation was extremely easy and quick, came with all necessary components, and directions were simple.
The bag fit my rear locker perfectly and I am now able to use the entire space for surf weight.
One of the best upgrades for my boat thus far, next will be the piggyback bow ballast bag. Great product!
This an easy to do necessary upgrade. The kit takes all the guess work out of ordering everything separately.
Why didn't I do this earlier?
I installed two Mastercraft tank buster rear ballast upgrade kits with 750 bags over the weekend in our 2003 X2 (the Prostar 205v hull). This was a remarkably simple upgrade. The first side took about 25 minutes as I figured it out, the second took maybe 10-15 minutes. The text instructions were straight forward. I suppose it would have been helpful to have a diagram that explained what was what on the bags and hoses, but it wasn't too challenging.
The wake is much taller with the additional weight. The bags do take a while to fill and drain, being so much larger than the factory ones. Not a big surprise.
Remember to check the hoses for leaks the first time you use the bags. I had to re-tighten the factory hose clamp on one side to eliminate all drips.
Wakemakers shipped the order within hours and emailed me immediately. This was a good shopping experience, and I'd recommend them.
